A trip to Thailand is not complete without visiting the magical islands of the south. Phuket has been the centre of tourist activities since the 1970s with a rich culture of holiday resorts and amazing beach parties all throughout the years.
Phuket is the starting point for visiting a number of amazing Island destinations located near the Southern part of mainland Thailand. Phuket is a booming town with a great nightlife, a large number of hotels and resorts in all budget and price ranges. Phuket is popular with young backpackers and solo travellers because of Bangla Road nightlife, bars, cafes and cheap restaurants.
Families and people planning extended days prefer to stay further south towards Karon Beach which has a number of amazing resorts along the beach. These beaches do not get very crowded and provided an amazing atmosphere for families and traveller seeking peaceful holidays.
Patong beach, on the contrary, is full of life and activity till the late hours of the night. I personally enjoy staying at Patong beach because of its active nightlife.
Where to Stay in Phuket
Bangla Road Patong Beach
Bangla Road is the hear to night-life in Patong. A long stretch of road extending from Robinson Malls goes all the way to the beach. The night time is full of noise and lights with amazing clubs like Tiger Club and Illuzion which is rated amongst the top 100 night clubs in the world. The bars are quite popular with local crowds and westerns who enjoy cheap drinks and some great adult entertainment. Some established also offer live sex shows amongst other activities.
Patong Beach
Patong beach is the heart of water sports including banana boats, paragliding, water scooters and boating tours. The beach is full of life all throughout the day. The activity picks up later in the evening when the sun goes down. You can see couples walking along the coastline enjoying the pleasant breeze or tourist busy with their selfies.
There are a number of quality hotels, motels and resorts located along the beach. The locations along the shopping malls are also easily accessible by tuk-tuks and motorbikes. Some people tend to book resorts on the hill for great views and infinity pools.
