Malacca is a popular weekend and holiday destination in Kuala Lumpur. Due to its proximity to Kuala Lumpur and Port Dickson, Malacca attracts large holiday crowds during school holidays and public holidays in Malaysia. Travelling with a family, I have found that serviced apartments and resorts are ideal for staying. Malacca offers a wide range of accommodations in all price ranges. I explored some places online and found Shore Hotel & Residence offering amazing deals on a 3-night stay.
The hotel is ideally located at a driving distance from the city centre. The Shore Residence is a multi-story building with plenty of amenities, including an indoor shopping mall, restaurants and other attractions for children.
The check-in process was quite simple, and the staff was quite friendly and cooperative. The establishment is located adjacent to the Malacca River, and from the top floors of the hotel, you can enjoy amazing views of Malacca City.

My favourite attraction on the premises is the outdoor waterpark and swimming pool. The area is shared between Shore Residence and Swiss-Garden Hotel Melaka. The Shore Residence building is 43 stories long. The wait time at the lift was a bit annoying at times as the building is very busy throughout the day.

The ground floor has a number of gift shops, cafes and restaurants. We enjoyed dinner at the “Rock Bottom Grill”. The restaurant has an amazing mix of Indian and Irish dishes, along with a huge selection of beers at the bar. The venue has live bands on the weekends that keep the venue very busy till midnight.
The building block area is surrounded by the Malacca River. The Malacca River tours pass this venue, and you can hop on the boat going to the Jonker Walk area. There are a couple of local cafes, restaurants and a mini-mart in the building opposite The Shore Residence.

The views from the top of the building are breathtaking. The pool area is located on the sixth floor, commanding some interesting views of old Malacca city. The brick-coloured building tops are common in Malacca. The history of this architecture goes back to colonial days

The outdoor and indoor pools are well managed and offer a respite from hot and humid days out in Malacca City. The pool closing time is around 10 pm.

What kind of accommodation is available at Shore Hotel & Residence at Malacca?
The Hotel offers Studio, Premier and Executive Suites, along with 3-Bedroom suites that are ideal for families and large groups.
A Studio or Premier Suite is ideal for a couple a small family. The rooms are furnished with all basic amenities. These rooms do not carry any cooking utensils, etc, as the rooms are not suitable for cooking. However, a microwave, kettle and coffee arrangement is available in all rooms.

What are some of the best things to do in Malacca?
Melaka is full of amazing cultural history, modern-day shopping and unique foodie adventures. All ruling empires in the past have left their impact on the history of this amazing city.
The shopping area near Hatten Place is centrally located and a great place to shop
I have enjoyed amazing restaurants and shopping at Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlawan Shopping Mall. The interesting part of exploring Melaka is that most historical places and tourist attractions are located within walking distance of each other.
Jonker Walk, Studthuys, Fort Famosa and Maritime Museum are worth a visit to learn more about the rich colonial Dutch and Portuguese history of the town.
